Richest States in the U.S.

Wealth has always historically been concentrated in certain areas and with certain groups, particularly within the United States. All throughout the history of the U.S. many have spoken about wealth redistribution and wealth inequality, especially in recent years.

To uncover the richest state, every year, the United States Census Bureau conducts the American Community Survey (“ACS”). The ACS is designed to obtain demographics information that used to only appear in the decennial census. The Census Bureau conducts the ACS by mailing approximately 3.5 million surveys to addresses, done in batches of about 295,000 per month.

According to the ACS data from 2019, the national income per capita for the United States was $35,672, but the median household income was $65,712.

See for yourself the richest states in the United States by examining the data in the charts.
