Introduction

The World Happiness Report ranks the happiest countries in the world based on various factors such as GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption. The study is conducted by surveying a representative sample of people in each country, asking them to evaluate their lives on a scale of 0 to 10 based on different parameters. The overall happiness score for each country is calculated by taking the average of these responses. The report found that Finland is the happiest country in the world for the sixth year in a row, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

Compared to the 2021 report, there has been little change in the rankings of the happiest countries, with only minor shifts in positions. Israel has climbed two places to replace Austria in the top ten, while the United States has dropped two places and slipped to 16th place. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on people’s lives across the world, and the report highlights the resilience and adaptability of individuals and societies in the face of adversity, with happiness levels remaining relatively stable in most countries.
